JOB DESCRIPTION TECHNICAL TRAINING SPECIALIST I – JTAC

Classification: Part-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt

Reports to: The Technical Training Specialist I reports directly to the Technical Training Manager.

Summary/Objective:

The Technical Training Specialist I is a critical role to the completion of desired learning objectives for the formal training unit. All crewmembers will have a full understanding of the training syllabus and be knowledgeable of joint terminal attack controller (JTAC) & ground/air integration tactics, techniques, and procedures. Technical Training Specialist I must be able to replicate ground and air asset tactics while communicating with remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) aircrew. Each crewmember must be a team player and responsive to the flow of the mission and the team lead’s guidance.

Essential Functions:

  • Conducts range operation for accomplishment of required training of RPA aircrews.
  • Executes work based upon scheduling and/or support personnel, vehicles, and assigned equipment to ensure the safe execution of all assigned tasks.
  • Develops internal execution plan with team members and executes areas of responsibility.
  • Must possess a thorough understanding of current intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR), close air support (CAS) procedures, combat search and rescue (CSAR) training, and associated ground force activities.
  • Must interact with the Instructor Pilot(s) to ensure the scenario is effective and consistent with the abilities of the students.
  • Must be able to present feedback and provide critical information for the student debrief.
  • Must be able to conduct verbal and visual classroom training & seminars; lead training and utilization of the full gamut of equipment to include: VDL (ROVER Systems), advanced communications equipment, targeting software, Laser Marking Devices, GPS, etc.
  • Serves as a JTAC SME. Conducts research to develop, revise, and continuously improve the overall training course materials.
  • Coordinates and interacts with customers to provide expertise in support of ground activities.
  • Assists with the development of course curriculum, directs scenario development, and TTP refinement.
  • Facilitates vehicle maintenance and operational status of all required range equipment.
  • Performs collateral duties as required.

Supervisory Responsibility: There are no supervisory responsibilities associated with this position.

Work Environment: This job operates in outdoor environments including inclement and hot weather, extreme-cold conditions in addition to office and/or classroom settings. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, radio equipment, and telephones.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to operate a vehicle. He or she performs the tasks of this duty is required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit for extended periods of time; run; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a part-time position, and general hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position occasionally requires long hours and weekend work.

Travel: Travel is primarily local during the business day; some overnight travel may be expected.

Required Education and Experience:

  • The Technical Training Specialist I is also considered a vital element of the team and will be a previously qualified JTAC with a minimum of 6 years military operational experience. (AF Form 8, AF Form 3827 or Terminal Attack Control Evaluation and Certification through DD Form 214 is required)
  • The Technical Training Specialist I will have post 9/11 combat deployment experience.
  • Proficiency in standard Microsoft office software suites applications.
  • Good organization and communication skills, both oral and written, are essential to success in this position. Can develop and deliver clear, concise presentations.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a highly dynamic team environment and assist all groups as needed.
  • Must be a U.S. person as defined in ITAR, 22 CFR 120.15 (U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident) and defined by 8 U.S.C. 1101(a) (20).
  • High School Education or GED Equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5 years of experience as a member of dynamic teams
  • One (1) to two (2) years’ experience working with RPA, ISR, or UAS student aircrews
  • ISR Aircrew training experience / PMATS simulator experience

Salary and Benefits: The salary will be competitive and commensurate with relevant experience as well as the responsibilities of the position. The part-time position includes travel reimbursement, lodging, and per diem for the period of work as scheduled. The Vidar Group, LLC will assist with travel and provide lodging and transportation locally. This part-time position does not qualify for the full benefits package.
